The HTC dream is a slide out keyboard, the HTC magic does not, in most other ways they are identical according to the specs on GSM Arena.com
I'm excited that the G1 (HTC Dream) is finally coming to Canada, and that we may actually get the G2 (HTC Magic) before the US. I'm sick of always waiting for new phones to come out in Canada.
btw these phones will be carried by Rogers

Mike,
Thank you for the information.
Do you know when there would be more Android-based cell phones coming to Canada?
I am with Telus but my contract expired 6 months ago. I'm free to go with any other carrier but somehow I prefer either Bell or Telus.

These are the only two Google Android phones that have been announced to come to Canada. When there are any additional announcements we will do our best to post in the forums and also have the information at futureshop.ca

I am excited about these Android phones. I've been holding off on buying a higher end cell phone for a long time. The iPhone was promising until I saw it was still somewhat locked down development wise.
As a software developer, I'm much more keen on the Android OS and I hope that Rogers doesn't try anything to cripple it or the hardware (other than the standard tethering restrictions).
I am suprised that none of the other carriers have shown interest in carrying it The RIM, Palm, and Windows phones just don't get me excited.
I'll probably go with the smaller HTC Magic since I'm not big on instant messaging.

Ack. According to an early review, Rogers is installing a custom firmware. I would have prefered they left the custom crap out so upgrades are more up to date and painless and there is less worry of Rogers messing around.
I was going to be lined up on the first day, but now I think it's prudent to wait a week or so and see how everything develops.

They do like how fast the downloads are along with the Microsoft Exchange support... Below is a small preveiw from Engadget with some pretty pictures.
