New Year! New Look!

Just a heads up to everyone that we're going to be getting a community platform upgrade overnight tonight which will make the Community look a little bit different tomorrow.  Most of the changes taking place in the backend, but the Community skin will look refreshed come January 8th.  You might have already noticed that the starburst background image is gone - this was done to make the Community experience more seamless with that of the retail site.

All features & settings should be staying as they are, we're just moving onto a CSS-based platform.  A couple of changes that you might notice on the front end are the removal of the Dashboard, the reformatting of the My Profile page, a new dating format (as in calendar dates, not "dating" dating) & confirmation messages for when you make a new post.  There's also been a change to some of the terminology - "threads" are now called "topics" and "icons" are called "avatars".

This upgrade means more control for our developers & designers in terms of customizing the layout and the design of the Community.  It also means faster access to future upgrades as more cool features roll out.  We've got BIG BIG plans for the Community over the next year, and this upgrade is step one to getting us going!

I don't anticipate this causing any issues with how you use the forum, but if you notice any bugs, please send me a Private Message (include a screenshot if possible) and I'll look into having it fixed asap.  The Community upgrade window is Thursday night / Friday morning from 12am - 3am PST - although it might not be down for the whole time.

Thanks everyone for your contributions over the past few years and look forward to an exciting 2010 with you all!

I just noticed it this morning, if it makes things better and easier that's great...will just take a bit of time to get used to.
