Hello Charlm,
Thank you for bringing your question to the forums.
There are several programs out there, One for example is Ultravnc - it has a server and a Viewer. it will also allow you to connect to the pc and take full control of it if need be.
But this software does not have Stealth mode. so the icon is visible on the bottom right hand side where the clock is.
another piece of software is Logmein. same idea as VNC
cheers,

Depending on the version of windows you are using at your office you might want to consider setting up an Administrator account for yourself and limited user accounts for your employees. While this won't allow you to remotely spy on what they are doing it will allow you to set limits on what they are able to do on the computers.
Here is a link to the windows 7 parental controls information. Windows 7 Parental Controls.

Hi there Charlm!
Just to add a bit of information to the great points that have already been made, TeamViewer is a software in the same vein as the ones already discussed. It has a free-to-use non-commercial version which is fully functional, which you could use to test the functionality of the software. For your purposes, you would very likely be best to pay a little for the full version, but see what the full license says in that respect.
What makes this software interesting compared to the others, in light of your current problem, is that it has a "record" mode which, when logged on and implemented, actually records everything happening on the screen of the PC you are attached to. I have set this up for a business owner to do exactly what you're describing, and it works amazingly well. And while you will still have an icon in the taskbar by the volume icon, frankly most folks won't recognize it!
Now, having said that, I must point out that, as an employer, you may only record the doings of your employees WITH THEIR INFORMED CONSENT. What this means is, much like all employees must be told explicitly that they are on camera and being recorded in a store, kitchen, etc., you must tell them that their activity on the computer is being recorded and / or viewed. If you do NOT take this step, then A) you CANNOT use information obtained in the above stated manner to reprimand, discipline, warn, fire, or otherwise harass employees, and B) while YOU have no legal rights concerning this information, your employees MAY, if they discover that you are recording them without their consent.
Please be very aware of the implications of using this type of software before deploying it. Canadian privacy laws are very comprehensive, and more information regarding them can be found HERE.
I hope this information can be of some help to you. And please keep in mind, much likethe PRESENCE of cameras will often deter certain activities, just knowing you have the ability to watch or record what happens on your PC may go a long way towards stopping any unneccesary usage.
Cheers,
Greg

If your primary interest is to monitor their online activity (what sites they have visited), you can deploy a proxy server or firewall that provides a logging feature, which you can then analyze that they are doing. If you deploy Windows Servers in your business, you can deploy certain group policies to your desktops to limit what your employees can do.
Like the previous poster has mentioned, you must clearly state to your employees that 1) computers and technology equipment in your company are for conducting business purposes only, 2) management reserves the right to monitor usage of equipment, 3) a list of conducts which are considered unacceptable, 4) violation of these conducts will lead to disciplinary actions, including and up to dismissal. Without a clearly-stated IT policy, you may found yourself in a legal mess.

If you want to stop your employees doing chats ,games ,or watching porn in working time ,what you need is a cam ,but if you worry about the confidential information being leaked out , you should have a spy ware , as they say , no free lunch out there for further security . Recently there is a new spy ware named spotdoggyspy ,you can take a look at site (competitor)
