Nintendo Reveals Its Early 2010 Video Game Line-up
With momentum for Nintendo's Wii and DS platforms stronger than ever in Canada as we move into holidays, the company made a point recently to announce their early 2010 game and accessory line-up will continue this trend.
For those gamer lovebirds out there Nintendo will be warming up Valentines Day with a pair of Pink and Blue Wii Remotes bundled with a Wii MotionPlus accessory. Given that they have already released White and Black versions of the controller, now every player in four-player match can each have their own colour.
Speaking to Nintendo's upcoming 2010 line-up, Rob Bertram, Nintendo of Canada's Vice-President and General Manager, says: "Nintendo DS and Wii will be providing millions of Canadians with endless entertainment this holiday season, and the fun will keep on growing with new games coming out in early 2010, from exploring the ocean depths to catching, training and battling Pokemon and even creating your own micro-games."
Here are some highlights from the list of early 2010 games:
- Nintendo has enhanced remakes of the Gameboy Color Pokémon Gold and Silver for the DS, a new role-playing game called Glory of Heracles for the DS, and a sequel to 2008's underwater adventure Endless Ocean for the Wii. They're also releasing the first WarioWare D.I.Y. titles for WiiWare and DS which lets gamers design their very own microgames.
- Plenty of third-party JRPGs in the pipeline for early 2010 including localization of two Wii titles, Atlus' Shiren The Wanderer ("Shiren 3" in Japan) and Xseed's Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon (known simply as "Fragile" in Japan), and six for the DS including, Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Konami's Puzzle Chronicles, Majestco's Dawn of Heroes, Sega's Sands of Destruction and Infinite Space, and Xseed's Ragnarok.
- SouthPeak Games is delivering a sequel to their mature 2007 first-person shooter title Dementium: The Ward. For those gamers looking for a little grit and gore in their portable experience look no further than Dementium II scheduled for release on February 2, 2010. Considering you can pretty much count the number of good FPS games on the DS on one hand this is one to look out for.
- Capcom is showing strong support across Nintendo platforms with Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars on Wii, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth on DS, and a pair of WiiWare titles with a port of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and the sequel to Megaman 9.
- Ubisoft is also giving Nintendo platforms strong support with the next games in the Red Steel and No More Heroes franchies for the Wii. Considering that hardcore games on the Wii are a little sparse these days these are two titles sure to please that crowd.
