Tablet anticipation builds
The week before the highly anticipated Apple 'Latest Creation' Event brought a lot of speculation and rumor, about upcoming product news, but all the talk seemed to focus on one item -- the mythical Apple iPad/iTablet/iSlate/iDon'tKnowWhatIt'sCalled.

iTablet to revolutionize the publishing industry

HarperCollins Publishers is negotiating with Apple Inc. to make electronic books available for the introduction of a new tablet device from Apple, according to people familiar with the situation, posing a challenge to (competitor) Inc.

HarperCollins is expected to set the prices of the e-books, which would have added features, with Apple taking a percentage of sales. Details haven't been ironed out.

Helping out the 'old guard'
Referring to traditional media companies, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was said to be "supportive of the old guard," a person who once worked with him told the Journal. Jobs allegedly wants to "help them by giving them new forms of distribution."

This slingshot was timed to bring Apple's shares down in advance of the company's first quarter earnings report on Monday. The action started at 9:12 a.m. Friday when theflyonthewall.com reported, without explanation, that Deutsche Bank had removed Apple from its short-term buy list — a report that was immediately picked up by the talking heads at CNBC, who mischaracterized it as a "downgrade."

Journalism

Starting in January 2011, a visitor to NYTimes.com will be allowed to view a certain number of articles free each month; to read more, the reader must pay a flat fee for unlimited access. Subscribers to the print newspaper, even those who subscribe only to the Sunday paper, will receive full access to the site without any additional charge.

Looks like a dude had the same name as a global-mega-corp. and Facebook thought he was squatting. All is good now, it seems.

Privacy: The 3 Facebook Settings Every User Should Check Now
Unfortunately, most Facebook users likely opted for the recommended settings without really understanding what they were agreeing to. If you did so, you may now be surprised to find that you inadvertently gave Facebook the right to publicize your private information including status updates, photos, and shared links.
