I just got an Acer AM5700 and am trying to apply for the Win7 upgrade. The Acer site gives you an image to show you how to find the number, but this computer does not have that kind of S/N. It has a product key.
Does anyone know if that is equivalent to a S/N? You have to apply by Feb.15 for computers bought before Jan.31, and I want to get this in.
Thanks!

Hello Carraig,
In the case of an Acer desktop you should be able to locate the hardware sticker along the side of the case (it will usually be located in a corner side area). The product key you are referring to is your license for Windows Vista that is currently loaded on the computer. The sticker you are looking for will probably be completely black with white print on it. Below is an example (minus the color pattern) of what you will be looking for.
If you can’t find a sticker on the case itself there are two other options.
Hope this helps!

Thanks so much Mike! I actually had to take a magnifying glass to get the number off the sticker on the side panel. The digits are so tiny, it does not look like there is a number there at all. That is incredibly difficult to find. I don't know why they would make it so hard when it's something everyone should have on hand in case of issues.
