Cicero drivers, need some help
01-20-2009 09:52 AM
Hello,
I reformatted my girlfriends Cicero desktop and need to know what drivers to download. I have been on the Cicero website and have not had any luck. It is asking for an MED S/N which I can not find on the tower. I can find the model number, serial number and a few others but none are found on the Cicero website. Can anyone direct me to which drivers I need to d/l and where they can be found?? This computer is from 2004 and the Cicero tech support only deals with 2005 and up which is just ridiculous. Thanks

Ensure you've installed Service Pack 2 or 3 on the computer.
Then, open up your Device Manager, through your Control Panel and System icon. Right-click on each device that does not have a driver, noted by a bright yellow question mark, and select Properties. On the device's Details tab, it should give you a big long line of stuff as the Hardware ID. The two numbers we need to determine what hardware you have (and what drivers you need to install) are the numbers innediately following the words VEN and DEV. Repeat for every device that needs a driver.
For example, if your Hardware ID is "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_103C2A6F

Device 1039:7012 is the SiS7012 Audio card. The driver is available from the SiS website.
Device 1039:6325 is the SiS650 IGP, or Integrated Graphics Port. This driver is also available on the SiS website.
Device 8086:1040 is the Intel 536EP Dialup Modem. Though I couldn't find an official Intel download, the driver I found at NoDevice seems to check out okay. Run the file, and extract its contents to a folder you can access easily, like the desktop. Then, on the modem in the Device Manager (it probably shows up as PCI Communications Device) right click on it, choose Update Driver Software, and follow the prompts. Tell it that you have a folder with the device's drivers, and point it to the folder where you extracted the driver files. Windows should install the modem without a problem.

Huh... Try a force install, like I explained with the modem drivers.
Open the Device Manager, right-click on the C-Media device, left-click Update Driver, and point the driver installer to the WinXP folder located within the audio driver folder, the same way you pointed the modem driver installer to the modem folder.
If that doesn't work... Any chance I could get the entire Hardware ID line, with the SUBSYS ID and all the extra gobbledygook? Should be able to either right-click on it and select Copy, or left-click on it and press CTRL+C to copy it, then in your reply here, right click on the text box and click Paste.
