The Windows 7 release is just a few days away (it drops October 22) and Microsoft is going grass roots to drum up some support.  They've built
a relationship with HouseParty.com to encourage people to have Windows 7 House Parties for the launch.

And you thought ComiCon was nerdy.

While Microsoft employees have started throwing their Windows 7 House Parties today, Tanya Davis (aka NetChick) has signed up to host her own Windows 7 House Party the weekend of the launch and isnt ashamed to admit she's excited.

"I think Windows is every day life and I think it's really important to have everyone else drink the Windows Kool Aid for a change," she giggled.

Tanya's party package is sitting at home waiting for her and her friends.  In it will be Windows logoed balloons, playing cards, napkins, a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate along all the instructions to host a killer house party to launch the product.

Should Tanya need some extra tips, there's always this video that's started to go viral.

All the invites to hold Windows 7 House Parties have been distributed by the website, but you can still scan it to find a party in a 'hood near you. (there are
nearly 300 in Vancouver, almost 500 in Toronto) A Windows 7 House Party Crawl might also be in order, as each party is encouraged to have a different theme highlighting a different feature of the new Windows 7 environment.

Tanya will be having a media party. "Basically I'm showing how to integrate media into the operating experience."  There's also photo, family, and beginner themed parties.

Tanya's had the beta release of Windows 7 running for a while and is very impressed, compared to the disappointment she had over Windows Vista.

"It's really efficient," she says. " I'm a control girl.  So for me, to be able to dig into the guts and not pay double the price for the hardware is important."

catch the buzz ... pass it on.
